During the birth of my son at the birth center, I was so fortunate to have Myla present. My ideal scenario was to have only my husband, midwife, and doula present, but it became a gathering of family, which Myla helped make more comfortable. Myla was the one person who was there for whatever support I needed. My labor was 36 hours. When others became tired, she made sure I was comfortable and had water to drink, and she helped me with laboring positions. She has a soft, gentle energy, and is very caring, attentive, and delightful. Her presence was appreciated and welcomed. I was having back pain, so Myla used a TENS unit and arnica cream. There was also a point in my labor when I remained 7cm dilated for a long time due to the baby’s positioning; Myla talked with my midwife and then used the rebozo — I became 10cm within twenty minutes. Myla was an essential ingredient in the creation of a great team environment with my husband and midwives. Considering how long my labor was, the midwives had to switch so the other could get rest, and eventually switched back, while Myla stayed the whole time. Those 36 hours are so meaningful to me, and I will always remember the experience. Next time around, I hope Myla will be able to join us again.
