Myla was absolutely a Godsend for us. I made the decision to look into doulas when I was about five months pregnant after hearing about the benefits of having a doula and due to the anxiety that the child birth process caused me. Myla came highly recommended from a friend of mine. After speaking to her we knew she was the right fit for us. We prepared for labor by taking a class and the two sessions with Myla so we definitely felt prepared as we looked for the signs of labor. We definitely didn’t expect three full days of labor which started on a Monday night and resulted in our beautiful baby girl on Friday morning of that same week. With Myla’s guidance and support we made it through three very rough days of consistent contractions and very bad back labor. Myla kept both of us calm and reassured during this time and kept us at home as long as possible so I could avoid the interventions that doctors encourage when labor doesn’t progress quickly. She gave us extremely helpful suggestions and tips throughout the process and in particular when we finally arrived at the hospital that Thursday afternoon to ensure we would get admitted. I am confident that without her I likely would have ended up with a c-section due to my slow progressing labor. Myla had great relationships with the nursing staff, she had the same level of knowledge and expertise as the nursing staff and she worked along side the doctors and hospital staff to support us in the delivery. She was non-judgmental and constantly asked me what our desires were throughout the process. She also was an invaluable support for me to assist with our daughter’s first latch and provided helpful ongoing support and suggestions during those first challenging weeks of breastfeeding. I can honestly say Myla was such a pleasure to be around and we both don’t know how we would have gotten through without her support! Myla has a very calming effect. I feel like she is a part of our family now and I highly recommend Myla to anyone looking for doula support!
