My husband and I wanted a doula to support us in having a natural birth. I met with over a dozen doulas, and Myla really stood out to me. I just felt like we clicked. She exudes calmness, balance, tranquility, and there was something about her which I felt like I needed during labor. Myla has vast experience, and the variety of different techniques and methods she’s familiar with and has used in the past really spoke to me. Whenever we talked, her voice was very calming, and she was very composed and knowledgeable. During our prenatal visits, she really got to know my vision for labor and birth, and helped us in creating our birth plan. Myla offered additional labor coping techniques to practice beyond the great things we had already learned in childbirth education class.
During labor, I really liked her touch. Myla’s massage and hip squeezes helped me cope. Also, the teamwork between my husband, Myla, and my midwife was great. Bobby had no idea how valuable it would be to have a doula added to our team, but in retrospect he too appreciated having Myla’s support. Our postpartum visit was wonderful! In the first few days when we we were trying to get our bearings and couldn’t figure out which way is up, Myla was incredibly helpful! We had a thousand questions. My major concern was breastfeeding, and she talked through everything. From making sure breastfeeding was going well to how to change a diaper, she had so many all-around great tips, and we really appreciated her time and help with all our concerns. We felt good about staying in contact with her. Myla remained helpful in the following months with breastfeeding support; it was simply beneficial to have knowledgeable support available if and when we needed it.
Having a doula is very important, and having a doula like Myla is doubly important – attentive, knowledgeable, with such a calming presence, and incredibly equipped to comfort and help with labor in so many different ways was key for us! I’d recommend Myla to all of the people I know, regardless of what type of birth they hope to have.
